The Film

The last time that I really felt like hypnotized by a film, was when I see “Avatar”, because this film is very interesting, and I saw the film in 3D. The advantage of see films in 3D is that you can enjoy the specials effects very well. In Avatar the effects in 3D are very good, I love this film!
I think that the base for judge a film is the screen, the production and the novelty of the film. In first, I judge the screen because the history of the film is very important for keep (or not) the attention and the interest in the movie. Second, the productions of the film show the stage in where the history develops; a good production makes a good movie, because improvement the history. Finally, for judge a film, the novelty of the film is important because can (or not) attract to the public.

In the first place, the film industry depends on several factors, like the money, the productions, the type of film, and other things. However, I don´t know lot about the film industry, because I don´t have a formed opinion in this issue.


Second, I think that the first in a film is the story, because when I remember the movies I remember first the story and second the specials effects. In other words, A good story doesn’t specials effects, because captive for your screen, and may have a good specials effects, but without a good story, these effects lost.


Finally, I think that in the film the producer and the director are very important, together all the people that working in the realization of the film. I don´t know the work of the producer nor the director, but I know that the director always takes the congratulations or the critics about in the movies. I don´t could say who is the most important.

How green are you?

The people learn about enviromentally usually through the internet, alternative mass media, for experts on environmental issues and almost never for the oficial mass media or for government campaigns.

In particular, I incorporated some recycling habits in my life, for example, when I go to the supermarket , I use few plastics bags or use fabrics bags. Also, I recycle everyday things as bottles, cartons, batteries and other things that I can recycle in my home.

Also, outside my home, I walk when I go to nearby places, in my district. When I go to farawey places I use the public transport. Although, the public transport polluter, more cars in the streets more pullute. I use the bike usually not as transportation, but as sport.

I did not joined at any eco-organisations because I do not know many except Green Peace, and I think that I haven’t as priority the environment, but I know that this issue is a very important for our society and that the all people should help for have a cleanerd world.

another thing I do is not smoking. I think that the cigars pollute far, not more than a industry, but polluters also in a small measure. Something, I would like have access to more information about the enviromental, and learn techniques for recycling at home.

To reduce my carbon footprint, I haven’t done anything, because I do not what they are the carbón footprint, and I don´t how reduce.

In our society in general, and in Santiago in particular, we need much more information about the issue, to become more aware of the environmental problema, and the goverment should intervene in companies that cause pollution, and invest in researchs for made forms of energy that are less polluting and that this news forms of energy help the environment.

The fuel poverty in UK

The news is about the increase in fuel poverty in UK. In this news , a senior charity executive, Mr Mitchell, raises the topic of the fuel poverty as a “national scandal” . The arguments of Mitchell are a set of statistics from of differents researchs, that show as millions of families in UK, have been hampered by the problema. This families are spend over the 10% of their income in winter heating.

The statistics of the Annual Report on Fuel Statistics 2010, shows an ascending scale in the fuel por, and the most affected by this problem are the seniors, because they must spend large amounts of their pensions every Winter for the problema of cold. Also, the report concludes that the increase in fuel poverty is produced for the increases in the energy prices in UK. This prices increased in 80% between 2004 and 2008.

To this problem, the prime minister, David Cameron, promised to help cope, up emergency payments that receive the families more povertys.

However, Mr Mitchell, expressed fear of the promises from the goverment, because there is distrust by the measures taken, and and the future of the problem of cold in UK. Mr Mitchell , called for keeping the promise to protect the poorest.

Meanwhile, Mr Phil Levermone, suggested something similar to Mr Mitchell, saying that the poorest are the most exploited in this issue.

In conclusión, the problem of the fuel-poor is a problema very important in UK, because there are researchs that reported this factor, and also there are peoples responsible for reporting about the fuel poor at the government authorities, putting this topic in the public stage.

Santiago

In Santiago there are many places to visit, for example, If you have a few Money, you can visit places as “San Cristobal” hill, the “O’higgins” park, or the “Quinta Normal” and other places with free acess. Also, if you can Money, do you can kown places as the cinema, some museums, or you can kown some restaurants as “Donde Augusto” in the Central Market. In this restaurant, do you can eat typical chilean food.

A tourist should visit the “Plaza de Armas”, the Central Market, the “Bellavista” neighborhood and other typical places of Santiago. Also, a foreigner tourist should eat typical chilean food in the central market or in the “Vega Central”. Other things than should do a foreigner tourist are: walk up the “Santa Lucia” and “San Cristobal” hills, for see all the city from above.

In recapitulation, a foreigner tourist should do the next ride in Santiago city:

1. 1. Know the “Plaza de Armas”: this place is a historic place of the city, in this place was founded the city. Today is a meeting point for the foreigner tourist, and you should know the Cathedral, the post oficine and a museum.

2. 2. Eat in the Central Market: if the foreigner tourist have hungry, should lunch in this place. Here can test typical food as the “Cazuela”, and fish and seafood.

3. 3. Walk for the Av Alameda, and walk up for the “Santa Lucia” hill. This hill is a litle hill, because you can know without very tired.

4. 4. Know the “San Cristobal” Hill. This hill is very long, there are 7Kms, so it is recommended walk up in car or in the cable car. This is a pin panorama for the foreigner tourist!

5. 5. Finally, you can visit the “Bellavista” neigborhood, in this places do you have many alternatives for fun in the nigth, this is a perfect place for finish the day in Santiago city.

What kind of improvements would you like to see in your society?

In think that my society to better in few aspects, and to worse in many aspects.
The aspects that to better are the gender topics, because today there is more information about this topic, and there are some social organization and more research about this aspect.
Well, the aspects that my society to worse are many. I think that the “Chilean Society” is a society very discriminate. The discriminate this can be seen in the treat with the Peruvian, indigenous peoples and other group of the society. Also, the public opinion is controlled by the mass media, but these mass media respond to the interests of a minority group that have many political and economical power.

I don’t think that the Chilean society is better than other societies around the world, I think that in my society there are very problems that hidden, as the discrimination, the violence, the education, the health and other problems that not Untreated. However, may exist societies worse.

The problems of my society are seen in the great inequality that exist in Chile, for example, in Chile the poor students of municipal schools haven’t the possibility of study in the University, because the education is very bad for them, and they can´t race for the access to study. Instead, the rich student can enter to the university.

Brasil :)

I would like travel to Brasil, because I think that this country is very beautiful. I have many friends that visited differents cities of Brasil, and they have told me that the beachs are wonderful and that the Brasil’s people are very, very nice.

I would like go to the beachs of Brasil. I want to travel in this summer, but I haven´t Money. I know that this country is very big, it have many cities, and that the Caipiriña is a tipical drink of this country. Also, I know that the brasilian are sports, good dancers and they are very beautiful.

Also, in Brasil is the jungle. I would like this place, but the animals animals give me a little scared. I am very fearful .

If I know Brasil, I would like know “ the slums”, because in these places life the poorest people of Brasil , also I would want know the Redemeer Christ of the Rio.

I would know Brasil, but only that turistic. I love Chile, and I do not like to live in another country. I only like to go on holiday to Brasil, for three or four weeks, only for this time.

In conclusión, I like Brasil and its diferentes places, as tourist and not tourist, and not not live in another country, because I love Chile.

The last term

In the last term, I had three responsabilities at the university. The first was my seminary of grade, the second was my practice and the third was the English 3 course.

My seminary was “The relation ship between the political parties and the unionized workers”. This topic is very interesting for me, because contains a topic a bit forgotten for the Sociology of Work: the political role of the syndicalisem. About my practice, I can relate that I worked in the “Fundacion Sol”. This foundation is a labor studies center. I liked worked in this place, because I love the labor topics. Finally, I studied English 3 with the teacher Belén Farias. The course was very entretenido, and the teacher is very very nice J

About my family, the last term was also a time changes, because, we can buying a new home. Before, we lived in the district of Conchali, now live in Quilicura. I like Quilicura, but I missed Conchali L , because I lived for 14 years in this district.

The conclusión of the last term, is that these term was very important in the academic topic. The most memorable momento was when I finish my practice. In the foundation made us a nice farewell to those who did practice last term.

My experience in the blog

I created my first blog in the class of English 3 the last year. I don´t understand nothing of this language, and I not has time for study English, so I decided to leave the class. Is for this reason that my first blog was forgotten, and I only wrote a few post.
In this year, I had to retake the class of English, and I have not the possibility of leaving. In this class, I created my second blog. This blog is called “Jenningles”, and I have that write every week in its.

I usually use for write in my blog the “Google Translator” and the page “wordreference.com”. This page are a big help for me, I alone could not have written anything! . The topics of my blog are different: “My First Blog”, “The Earthquake”, “My Dogs”, “Pierre Boudeau”, “ My Family”, “ My favorite piece of technology”, “Dragon Ball”, “ My Seminary” and “The San Francisco’s Church in Chiloe”. I wrote about this topics, because write post in my blog is a activity in the class.

I don´t like much the English, but I like write in the blog, because is a fun way to learn this language. Also , I can know more to my class mate, because , I have that read their post and make some comments. With this exercises, I have learned a little more.

In my opinion, the use of the blog, and the other tools for learned is very important when it comes to language teaching, because is a different form of learning. I think that when I use the blog, I do nearest the language, is a more familiar for me.

Also, is very important for learn more , write every week in the blog, because the practice must be constant , and the practice make the master!

The San Francisco's Church in Chiloe

This image is the San Francisco's Church. This Church is in Castro, Chiloe. I don`t know who took this picture, nor know the date it was taken, because I found in the Internet, and there are many images with this church. I have photography in the San Francisco’s Church. This photo was taken by a friend in the holiday at 2009. In that summer, I knew the south of Chile to the Big Isla of Chiloé, even though I do not have much money.

In the photo we can see the grand work of arquitecture that is this church. This church was made only wood. Also, who built it no used any nails in the construction of the Church! This is very interesting because show a different form that build. The wood was joined with dowels. This shows very very work in the build of the Church, although for those years there wasn´t the technology of today.

I like this photo because I remember my vacations in Chiloe. I saw this church in the night, and is very beautiful in the summer night, because it have a magic atmosphere than is surrounding the principal's place of the city.

The photo reflects the dedication with which was built this church. The San Francisco’s Church together with the other churches of the island are unique in the world. Possibly, this was a reason by which all church of Chiloé are considered Humanity`s Patrimony. Is for this motive that is very important and necessary protect the monument, for this image not only a memory, and many people can enjoy every year. Although this church not only is a principal tourist attraction of Castro, but also the San Francisco´s Church represents part of the traditions and culture from Chiloe.

My seminary

The topic that I work in my seminary of grade is the relationship between the syndicate and the Political Parties in Chile. I think that this topic is a very important for the Sociology of Work, but has been shelved in the research about the syndicalism.

The relationship between the syndicate and the Political Parties can be studied from different perspectives. In my seminary the perspective of study revolves around the concept of identity. The concept of “Identity” is very complexity, because there are many definitions about the identity. In my seminary, the concept elected is similar to the Jorge Larraín, because he defines the identity that a process in which the people that recognizes itself around three axes: What I am? ; Do I have? And who are my similar?

Using these three questions, I research the identity of the workers, and I shall investigate what is their relationship from a subjective point of view, and I can study the phenomenon from a objective point of view, investigating the specific practices that have the workers witch the Political Parties, as the militancy, the program policy, the patronage, or the electoral support.
Well, I want work this idea, because I considerer that the study about the social movements that the syndicalism can contribute to understand the political action of the people in particular, and overcoat the Political Parties in Chile have been recently separated of the civil society, this is demonstrated in the low support the some movements which the traditional political parties and the creation of new organizations representing of the social demands.

DRAGON BALL

When I was a children, I watched “Dragon Ball”. Dragon Ball is a animated cartoon Japanese. In the history, the protagonist is a boy called “Gokú”. He is not earthling, he is saiyajin. Gokú had a monkey tail, and when he see the full moon, he becomes a huge gorilla!

The saga of Dragon Ball is very long, and has three parts: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. I watched all the chapters and I have some movies about the series. I liked this cartoon, because is very fantastic since Goku had always many adventures, many different planets wicked, and with his powers Goku killed them all. He was my hero!

I remember, when would take the final chapter of Dragon Ball GT in TV, I and my brother were anxious and very happy because we were finished watching the series, that afternoon it rained a lot and there was a thunder storm, that led to the light cut, and not and we could not see the chapter in that time! I was very sad, I had bad luck!

This happened a few years ago, then I saw that chapter. Today I like this series, when I have time, I see the Dragon Ball movies, and some chapters that I have in my house. The last years, I see the movie “Dragon Ball Evolution”, that apparently was based in the original history, but the movie is a offense for the fans , because the plot was not connected with the real story, and the characters did not have their original features, is really bad, a fraud!

My favorite piece of technology is my personal computer or notebook. I bought the computer in May of 2007. I bought with the money I earned in a summer job.

I love my computer because it is very useful for my studies in the University and for my Professional Practice, because in the place of my practice there are not computers. Also, I use my notebook for others activities that I like, as see DVDs, listen music, draw pictures and read texts.

My computer has very programs for the work ( word, excel, spss) and for the fun, for example, as a program to create movies. In this program I made a movie of my family je je je . In this movie, I used many old photograps of my family and put them on the move through the program. This is a great! Additionally, my computer catches the Internet signal to around my house. Thanks to this, I can a check my e-mail and access to cyberspace free.

My computer has never had big problems, just the last month I formation my PC for first. If I didn`t have my computer, I haven`t access to many information and diversion. I think what that would be very sad, because is a tool very necessary today. But, I could live without!.

My Family

My family is very big. My Grandmother and My Granpather had eighteen children, eight women and teen men. I have seventeen uncles! My mother is the daughter numbers thirteen, the number of the luck! And I have thirty cousins. They are all around Chile.

My mother is from Hualañe, a district from the Maule region. My father is from Santiago. They met in 1984, and they married in 1986. They have five children.

My eldest sister is call Carolina, she have twenty four years old. She study psychology in Valparaiso. Then I come, mi name is Jennifer, and I have twenty two years old. I Study Sociology. My first brother is call Felipe, he have seventeen years old, and he is in fourth grade in the high school. He want study History the next years. Mi other sister is call Melissa, she have five teen years old. She is in second grade in the high school. She is a rocker, She love the music, but, she want study biology. Finally, my little brother is call Vicente, he have teen years old. He is In fifth grade in the primary. He is my favorite brother!

We are many in my family. Is very difficult that we are all together, but never we left, because we are very close.

Pierre Bourdieu

Pierre Bourdieu birth in 1930 in France. He studied Philosophy and Sociology. Bourdieu was teacher in the École Normale Superiure, and in the College de France. Also, was director of the L’École Pratique de Hauts Études and the journal Actes de la Recherche en Sciences Sociales . He died in 2002.

Bourdie wrote many book and articles, some of they are:” Foundation of a theory symbolic violence”, “Art rulers”, among texts very interesting about the domination in the society.
I like Pierre Bourdieu because he is a very important sociologist of the XX century. He studied different topics about the society, that the symbolic violence, social classes, the art, the education, among topics. Is for this reason that Bourdieu is considered the better sociology in recent times. He is a perfect sociology. He is indispensable for my career!

There are many fans of Pierre Bourdieu, I am too. He managed overcames clasics theorys of the social sciences, incorporating the concept of “Habitus” in the Sociology. Thanks to this concept, the student, teacher and the social scientists have a comprehension wider of the contemporary society with its problems.

My Dogs

I have two dogs, "Toby" and "Pichintun".

Toby birth in 1º May, 2007. The saturday is its birthday number three. Toby came to my house because a miss it gave to my mother. This dog was called “Benjamin”, but to my family did not like this name for a dog. Anyway my brother Vicente called him Toby. This pet is very funny because run everyday .It is a crazy!, and when someone food leads for it, jumps of joy. Also, when left home alone, Toby protects our house, and barking all time.

Pichintun is passive. Its arrived last weekend. Apparently was abandoned. The dog was very sad outside my home. It have two or three months of live, it is very small! My family decided keep the dog while we find a loving family, because my family can’t have two dog as we move home the next month.

For the moment, Toby and Pichintun are good friends, Toby care to Pinchintun, because this small pet need much love.

The Earthquake

In 27 February at the 3:34 o´clock of the night, I was sleeping . In the beging of the earthquake I think that are a simply quake. But, when begin to get much I have scared because I am in the second floor of the boyfriend`s house.
Although I was scared, I don’t run or scream, because I think if I stand, I fall! Later of the earthquake I and my boyfriends went to schek the house, and thank goodness has not a problems.
The electric energy faded, but in my MP3 we listened the radio. In this moment learned that was an earthquake in many cities of Chile. I want call to my mother, but I can`t because network had fallen.
The next day I go to my house in bus. When I arrive, learn about my family. They are very good and my neigbord as well.

My name is Jennifer and I am student of sociology. In this class of English, every student created a blog .
I did not know how to use a blog, because I usually not used the internet. But, as I had to create this blog, I can write about my life.
I live in Santiago, in Conchali. I live with my family and my dog. I like play with my brother. He have a ten years old. In my free time share with he and my family, but also share with my friends. They live near my house, and for that I can see every day.

I like share with my loved ones and my class mates of the university. Also they are very important for me, because I am with they every day, and in the future we are mate worker.
