The fuel poverty in UK

The news is about the increase in fuel poverty in UK. In this news , a senior charity executive, Mr Mitchell, raises the topic of the fuel poverty as a “national scandal” . The arguments of Mitchell are a set of statistics from of differents researchs, that show as millions of families in UK, have been hampered by the problema. This families are spend over the 10% of their income in winter heating.

The statistics of the Annual Report on Fuel Statistics 2010, shows an ascending scale in the fuel por, and the most affected by this problem are the seniors, because they must spend large amounts of their pensions every Winter for the problema of cold. Also, the report concludes that the increase in fuel poverty is produced for the increases in the energy prices in UK. This prices increased in 80% between 2004 and 2008.

To this problem, the prime minister, David Cameron, promised to help cope, up emergency payments that receive the families more povertys.

However, Mr Mitchell, expressed fear of the promises from the goverment, because there is distrust by the measures taken, and and the future of the problem of cold in UK. Mr Mitchell , called for keeping the promise to protect the poorest.

Meanwhile, Mr Phil Levermone, suggested something similar to Mr Mitchell, saying that the poorest are the most exploited in this issue.

In conclusión, the problem of the fuel-poor is a problema very important in UK, because there are researchs that reported this factor, and also there are peoples responsible for reporting about the fuel poor at the government authorities, putting this topic in the public stage.
